Lucy's Quarrel KS1 by Nikki Gamble
The Literacy Hour Units series aims to resource that part of the National Literacy Strategy that calls for shared and guided group reading of a common text within the structure of the Literacy Hour framework. Using selected titles from the Scholastic Children's Book list, the series provides multiple copies of the books for group reading, along with teachers' resource books containing both lesson plans for using the texts within the Literacy Hour structure as well as supporting photocopiable activity sheets for pupils. Lessons are organized under headings of Whole-class Work, Group Work and Plenary. An overview grid provides at-a-glance information about the word, sentence and text-level work covered. Each teacher's book has an A1 double-sided, text-based poster in the middle for use as shared text for whole-class teaching. In Lucy's Quarrel, Lucy just can't stop talking about her birthday party, but Alice is tired of the way she goes on and on. The two friends quarrel and Lucy tells Alice she can't come to the party. Although they are both sad, they are also both stubborn and refuse to make up until the other apologizes. But saying sorry is not that easy - or is it?
