Little Jimmy Johnston, Liverpool-born New York-raised, hustled his way to the top of the American fight business in the thirties. Sports editor Bill McGeehan called him the Boy Bandit, a tribute to his youthful appearance and gift for larceny. This book was inspired by something Jimmy said back around 1935, 'The puncher always has a chance. Give me the guy who can punch, to manage, to bet on, or just to watch.' The fighters in this book were the guys Johnston was talking about. Guys like Terrible Terry McGovern, the Brooklyn Terror...Rock-fisted Stanley Ketchel, the Michigan Assassin...Sam Langford, the Boston Tar Baby...Mighty Atom Jimmy Wilde...Jack Dempsey, the Manassa Mauler...Sweet as Sugar Ray Robinson...Iron-fisted Rocky Marciano.
