John Boyne was born in Ireland in 1971 and is the author of three novels, The Thief of Time, The Congress of Rough Riders and Crippen (nominated for the Sunday Independent/Hughes & Hughes Irish Novel of the Year Award), and a children's book, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas (shortlisted for the Ottakar's Children's Book Prize).
