Summary
Tim O'Hagan is old and dying. Trapped in a body that barely functions, he begins the process of letting go, reliving his live as a colonialist in Malaya between the two world wars. His reminiscence takes him from middle-class Irish Catholic life to the civil service in Malaya as a young man.
