This book is part of the Everyman series, which has been totally re-set with wide margins and easy-to-read type and contains some of the most important early Buddhist dialogues. Taken from the Digha Nikaya, these are key discusions of ethics, values and attitudes. Set in India in the 6th century BC, their teaching is common to many later schools of Buddhist thought. Discussing the historical and philosophical setting for the dialogues, the translator provides introductions and notes and has extensively revised the Rhys Davids translation to convey the original spirit of the discourses.
