The story recounts their life together, from their meeting at the Savoy to their years of farming on the Cornish coast. As he considers Jeannie's qualities, his tone is refelective and one of pride tinged with sadness as he describes her unfailing bravery throuh her final illness. Derek Tangye is the author of 16 titles in the "Minack" series, including "A Gull on the Roof" and "The Cherry Tree". During the war, he was a member of M15. His wife, Jean Nicol Tangye, was an illustrator and author in her own right, responsible for "Meet Me at the Savoy" and the trilogy "Hotel Regina", "Home is the Hotel" and "Bertioni's Hotel".
