Some of the stories have been specially written for this collection by writers such as Sue Welford. Others are by sci-fi writers including Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, and Harry Harrison.

The Young Oxford Book of Aliens Reviews

"Creep out your 10-and-up children in classic fashion with The Young Oxford Book of Aliens... Collects stories from the likes of Arthur C. Clarke and Philip K. Dick on what creatures from another planet might look, sound and act like. As the table of contents says - the truth is in here,
somewhere."--Seattle Times/Post Intelligencer
"Science fiction and fantasy fans will delight in this collection of well-crafted stories.... An entertaining and thought-provoking read...The diverse, quality collection testifies to the strength of the imagination where words, not special effects, have the power to transport and amaze."--Booklist
"While many young reader's titles in this genre are unremarkable, with many mass-produced, unsophisticated works, this book is refreshingly different. It is an excellent compendium of short stories penned by a wide variety of authors.... There is much to enjoy... A worthy book, with plenty here for
both adults and young readers to relish."--Children's Literature
"Open at your own risk, but if you are intrigued by the subject, this is a must. The 22 stories include tales by well-known sci-fi authors (Arthur C. Clarke, Avrum Davidson, Philip K. Dick, Harry Harrison and more) and new pieces by cutting-edge writers. Lots of horror, humor, and thrilling
storytelling."--Atlanta Journal Constitution
