Timber Designers' Manual by David T. Baird
This design manual is now based on Code of Practice BS5268: Part 2 (the rewrite of CP 112: Part 2). In this edition, the chapters on timber supply, preservation and hardwoods have been expanded, and a new design method for ply web beams has been introduced to take account of the difference between stress levels of building and tension. The book provides extensive tables and co-efficients which should save the practising engineer many design hours. It is a useful reference tool for engineers, structural designers and those lecturing in this specialized field and ,in addition, the discussion of such topics as loading and deflection make this book of special interest to other professionals engaged in the building industry such as architects.
