Andrew Scott is a science writer. After gaining a degree in biochemistry from Edinburgh University in 1977, and a doctorate in chemistry from Cambridge University in 1981, he too up science writing full--time. He is the author of Pirates of the Cell, The Creation of Life, Vital Principles and Molecular Machinery, editor of Frontiers of Science, and has written numerous articles for such publications as New Scientist, the Sunday Times and the Guardian. He has broadcast frequency on radio science programmes, particularly for BBC External Services Radio, and often lectures on chemistry, biology and other aspects of science. He is married, has two children and lives in Edinburgh.
