The Count of Monte Cristo Summary

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Little treasures, the FLAME TREE COLLECTABLE CLASSICS are chosen to create a delightful and timeless home library. Each stunning, gift edition features deluxe cover treatments, ribbon markers, luxury endpapers and gilded edges. The original text is accompanied by a Glossary of Victorian and Literary terms produced for the modern reader.

In this original abridged and accessible version of the beloved novel, we follow Dantes, imprisoned within the dread ramparts of the Chateau d'If, as he plans his escape to take revenge on the three men whose actions led to his fate. Finding a hidden treasure, he transforms himself into the Count of Monte Cristo and slowly executes his retribution. Alexandre Dumas' famous tale is as riveting now as it was popular in the 1800s when it established itself as a classic for all times.

About Alexandre Dumas

Alexandre Dumas (1802-70), author of The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask, was one of the most successful authors of his era. He was a celebrated writer of mixed heritage, born of a French Nobleman and a mother from the French colony of Saint-Domingue. His military education provided a rich seam for his dashing stories of historical adventure fiction, but he also wrote plays, essays and hundreds of letters.
