The Hyena and the Hawk Summary

The Hyena and the Hawk by Adrian Tchaikovsky

The Hyena and the Hawk is the third book in Adrian Tchaikovsky's epic fantasy trilogy, Echoes of the Fall, following The Bear and the Serpent.

They face a hunger that could consume the gods themselves . . .

From the depths of the darkest myths, the soulless Plague People have returned. Their pale-walled camps obliterate villages, just as the terror they bring with them destroys minds. In their wake, nothing is left of the true people: not their places, not their ways. The Plague People will remake the world as though they had never been.

The heroes and leaders of the true people - Maniye, Loud Thunder, Hesprec and Asman - will each fight the Plague People in their own ways. They will seek allies, gather armies and lead the charge. But a thousand swords or ten thousand spears will not suffice to turn back this enemy. The end is at hand for everything the true people know.

The Hyena and the Hawk Reviews

It's addictively brilliant! The protagonist is vivid and sympathetic - and I love both the story and the world Adrian has created. It's meticulously thought out and utterly believable. -- John Gwynne on The Tiger and the Wolf
A classically brilliant fantasy writer, a pusher of boundaries, great storyteller -- Paul Cornell
Brilliantly conceived and executed . . . Readers will be captivated -- Publishers Weekly on The Tiger and the Wolf
A clever, compelling page turner -- SF and F Reviews on The Bear and the Serpent

About Adrian Tchaikovsky

Adrian Tchaikovsky was born in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire before heading off to Reading to study psychology and zoology. Married, he is a keen live role-player and occasional amateur actor, has trained in stage-fighting, and keeps no exotic or dangerous pets of any kind, possibly excepting his son.

He is the author of the critically acclaimed Shadows of the Apt series, the Echoes of the Fall series, and Children of Time, the winner of the 30th Anniversary Arthur C. Clarke Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.
