Book I is based around Pompeii, and contains explanatory language notes with grammatical tables and vocabularies, practice examples, updated background information and illustrations and a vocabulary checklist for each stage. The layouts of the stories and language notes have been improved, and the grammar sections, stories and exercises have also been revised to aid both pupils' and teachers' comprehension. The teacher's guide has been revised to match the new student texts, and offers user-friendly support for classroom teaching.
