Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch is the multi-award winning author of historical fiction and non-fiction for children and young adults. Too Young to Escape: A Vietnamese Girl Waits to be Reunited with her Family was a USBBY Outstanding International Book, and ILA Notable Book for a Global Society, and an NCTA Freeman Book Award honorable mention. Last Airlift: A Vietnamese Orphan's Rescue from War won the Red Cedar Information Book Award and its sequel, One Step at a Time: A Vietnamese Child Finds Her Way, won the OLA Silver Birch Non-Fiction Award. Both were Bank Street Best Books. Her other acclaimed titles include Don't Tell the Nazis, Stolen Girl, Making Bombs for Hitler, and The War Below. Marsha lives in Brantford, Ontario. Tuan Ho escaped Vietnam at age six in 1981 among thousands of other "boat people" refugees. Through author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, he has told the story of how he, his mother, and two sisters survived five days adrift on the ocean with dwindling fresh water before being rescued by a U.S. aircraft carrier. Joining the rest of his family in Canada, he went on to attend school in Toronto and is now an accomplished physiotherapist. His wife Edae, a primary school teacher, is the child of other Vietnamese boat people refugees who settled in Ireland and then Canada. Tuan and Edae have two young daughters, Madeline and Emily. Brian Deines is a fine artist and the award-winning illustrator of over twenty children's books, including Elephant Journey, A Bear in War, Bear on the Homefront, and In a Cloud of Dust. Dragonfly Kites was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award for Illustration and the Ruth & Sylvia Schwartz Children's Books Award. Brian lives in Toronto, Ontario.
