Born in Oamaru in 1950, Greg was selected as a Junior All Black while at Otago University. After a law degree, McGee went on to write the acclaimed stage play Foreskin's Lament in 1980. He has written and directed drama series for television, including Roche, Marlin Bay, Cover Story, Doves of War and Street Legal. His television writing has won several awards. At the beginning of 2007 McGee left his production company, ScreenWorks, to concentrate on writing - fiction and non-fiction, and his articles on Richie McCaw and Graeme Henry have appeared in Sky Sport magazine.
