Peter Rossdale is an internationally known veterinarian and an authority on bloodstock horses. He studied at the Royal Veterinary College, London and has been in practice in Newmarket, Suffolk, for the past forty years. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. As a visiting professor he has lectured in Australia, the United States and other countries. In 1996 Peter Rossdale received an OBE for services to equine veterinary science. He edits the Equine Veterinary Journal, is the author of many papers and has written a number of books including Your Horse, The Practice of Equine Stud Medicine (joint authorship), Inside the Horse, The Horse's Health from A to Z (joint authorship) and Horsebreeding. Melanie Bailey works for Jeff Smith's highly successful stud farm based in Hampshire, home to many of racing's greats - perhaps most notably the legendary Lochsong. Melanie has worked in England, Europe and Australia, involved with thoroughbreds and performance horses. She worked at The National Stud in Newmarket after graduating from Warwickshire College of Agriculture. During this time she was, amongst other duties, responsible for running and developing the Diploma Course as well as developing the now highly successful NVQ courses runs by the Racing and Thoroughbred Breeding Training Board. Melanie has lectured on many aspects of horse care but specializes in equine breeding and behaviour. She now lives in Hampshire.
